Ingredients

Keep reading if you’ve been wondering what goes in this dessert martini! The ingredients are simple: this recipe uses equal parts vodka, chocolate liqueur, and Baileys Irish cream.

  • Baileys Irish Cream. There are other brands out there, but Baileys is a tried and true classic.
  • A couple of ounces of vodka. Like other vodka martinis, you will want to use good quality vodka for this recipe. See my recommendation below.
  • A couple more ounces of chocolate liqueur.
  • Chocolate sauce and some yummy shaved chocolate for garnish.

Best Vodka For a Martini

A vodka martini is a perfect way to show off premium vodka. Often times the vodka you choose will either make or break the taste of the cocktail. We recommend using the best vodka you have. If you are purchasing vodka for this recipe, we recommend Belvedere or Grey Goose for a top tier. Titos would be a good mid-level option.

How to Make a Chocolate Martini

FAQ

What is a chocolate martini?

Our chocolate dessert martini is made with equal parts vodka, chocolate liquor, and Baileys Irish cream.

What is chocolate liqueur?

Chocolate liqueur is an alcohol flavored like chocolate. Some examples you could use for this recipe include Creme de Cacao or Godiva Dark Chocolate Liqueur.

How to Serve

Serve your martini in a chilled martini or coupe glass. We love the extra flair a garnished chocolate rim, and chocolate drizzle adds to the drink! Before preparing the cocktail, dip the rim of the martini glass in some chocolate and drizzle the chocolate inside the glass. Strain the cocktail into a prepared glass and top it with chocolate shavings. To make really beautiful curls, gently use a vegetable peeler on a long chocolate bar.

Want the perfect chocolate swirl for your martini glass? Using a squeeze bottle with chocolate in it, start from the bottom of the glass and start squeezing the chocolate and leave some at the bottom of the glass. While holding the martini glass, swirl upward and around until you reach the top. After practicing a few times, you’ll be a chocolate-swirling pro!
