Let your hair down with this vacation in a glass, no boarding pass required! The Pineapple Margarita combines all of the best refreshing elements: tart, sweet, cold, and smooth. With just a few ingredients, using good quality tequila is crucial in making this cocktail one you’ll come back to often. Let the blender do the work and enjoy a recipe you’ll want to keep handy!

Pineapple Margarita Ingredients

Here are the simple ingredients needed to whip up some frozen pineapple margaritas. Be sure to see the recipe card at the bottom of the post for the list of ingredients and their measurements.

  • Tequila: The base spirit for the margarita, be sure to use a tequila labeled “100% agave.” Agave is what tequila is made from, so this ensures that it is straight tequila and doesn’t contain any extra fillers or additives.
  • Sweet and sour mix: I highly recommend you make a batch of this sweet and sour mix. It is so easy and has such a fresh flavor to your margaritas.
  • Triple sec: An orange-favored liqueur. For a higher-quality option, you could use Cointreau or Grand Marnier.
  • Frozen pineapple: Adds both flavor and texture to the margarita. Freezing fresh pineapple chunks ensures a cold, slushy consistency without diluting the drink.

Sweet and Sour Mix

A staple for any bar and the perfect complement to your favorite cocktails (hello, margaritas!), this homemade recipe has just three ingredients and is so easy to make. Take your cocktails to a whole new level of refreshing!

Making Pineapple Margaritas for a crowd? It’s easy to make a pitcher!

Simply mix your 1 1/4 cups good quality tequila, a cup or so of the homemade Sweet and Sour Mix, a half cup of triple sec or orange liqueur, and about six cups of frozen pineapple in a blender. Mix until smooth and serve in sugar-rimmed glasses immediately. This refreshing margarita is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser!

How to Serve

We love to serve Pineapple Margaritas in margarita glasses, which provide some aesthetic flair. While salt is commonly used to coat the rim of a glass for a margarita, rimming the glass with sugar for a pineapple margarita provides a sweet touch with every drink that pairs perfectly with the tart pineapple and tequila. A pineapple wedge garnish is optional, but oh so cute!
