I love any excuse to celebrate, even if it’s for something as simple as surviving a crazy Tuesday or finishing a great book. The lovely French 76 is one of my go-to’s. Bubbly champagne and tart lemon juice combine with vodka and simple syrup to create a chic and invigorating cocktail that is worth celebrating!

This is a cocktail that is elegant and sophisticated yet very simple to make. Its sure to wow your guests in taste and presentation, yet won’t take much time or prep work on your end to make. Cheers to that!

French 76 Recipe

Once you have your ingredients, making a French 76 is quite simple. You will need two ounces of vodka, just shy of an ounce of lemon juice, 1/2 ounce of simple syrup, and two ounces of champagne.

How to Make a French 76

  1. Add the vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice
  2. Give it a good shake
  3. Strain into a champagne flute
  4. Top with champagne
  5. Garnish with a cherry and enjoy!

French 76 vs 75

The key difference between these two cocktails is the base spirit. The original French 75 is made with gin while the French 76 is made with vodka. This changes the flavor of the cocktail enough to require separate names. Try them both and let us know which one is your favorite.
