Birthday Cake Pudding Shots don’t have to be just for your birthday. These creamy and festive shots come together with simple ingredients and will be a party hit!
Anyone who loves cake batter (and honestly, who doesn’t?) will love these decadent pudding shots. Creamy pudding, sweet cake vodka, whipped cream, and sprinkles…they are the perfect way to celebrate any special occasion!
Birthday Cake Pudding Shots Ingredients
A handful of simple ingredients combine for this cake-flavored party favorite! See the recipe card at the bottom of the post for all measurements.
- Vanilla instant pudding mix: Don’t worry about following the directions on the box, you’ll just be using the dry mix. Double check the label to make sure it is instant pudding.
- Dry cake mix: Vanilla or Funfetti are great flavor options. Again, you will need just the dry mix. For food safety purposes, toast the cake mix in a baking dish in the oven for 5 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cake vodka: If you can’t find cake vodka, whipped cream flavored vodka or RumChata would also work.
- Milk: Any kind of milk will work for these shots, just make sure it is cold.
- Vanilla extract: Adds a flavor profile that compliments the other ingredients.
- Whipped cream: Optional, but delicious to garnish these pudding shots.
- Sprinkles: Also optional, but I guarantee they make these shots so much fun to drink and gives them a festive presentation.

Serving Pudding Shots
Serve these birthday cake pudding shots in shot glasses, and garnish with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles for an extra-festive flair. If you are taking these pudding shots to a party or gathering, we recommend putting the pudding mixture in disposable shot glasses. Make sure to chill in the fridge for at least two hours so the shots can properly set and then enjoy the shots while chilled for best results.

How to Store Pudding Shots
Lining up your birthday pudding shots on a baking sheet will make them easier to transfer and store if you are preparing them ahead of time. Make sure to leave a little room at the top of each shotglass for the garnish. When you are ready to serve, take your pudding shots out of the refrigerator and top with whipped cream and sprinkles.
Make Pudding Shots Ahead of Time
These shots are great to make in advance, since they need time to chill in the fridge anyway. Take some pressure off the day of the event by making these a day or two in advance, storing them in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. Wait to garnish your shots until you are ready to hand them out.
