The Colorado Bulldog is a coffee-flavored mixed drink that is sweet and smooth. One of the most popular Kahlua drinks, this recipe has four ingredients and is so easy to make.

Topping the cocktail with a splash of cola is what distinguishes the Colorado Bulldog from a White Russian. It adds a bubbly and sweet twist that complements the creamy coffee mixture. The history of the cocktail is pretty vague, but we know the popular drink is here to stay!

White Russian

This White Russian recipe is the perfect ratio of the trio of ingredients, and one of the most popular Kahlua drinks!

Colorado Bulldog Ingredients

Four ingredients combine in a Colorado Bulldog drink. For the measurements and full recipe, see the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Vodka: A top-shelf vodka isn’t needed for this recipe, so no need to break the bank with an expensive bottle. Something mid-level, like Tito’s, is our recommendation. You could use a vanilla or caramel vodka also to change the flavor up a little.
  • Coffee liqueur: Coffee-flavored Kahlua liqueur adds a rich flavor profile to the Colorado Bulldog.
  • Heavy cream: If you don’t have heavy cream, you could also use half and half or milk. The thicker options are more popular because they make the drink creamier. Use almond, oat, or soy milk for a dairy-free option.
  • Cola: Used to top the cocktail and add some fizz. Add more soda to fit your taste if you prefer a sweeter drink. Use fresh cola to have the best bubbles when making this cocktail recipe.

How to Make a Colorado Bulldog

Once you have your ingredients gathered, making a Colorado Bulldog cocktail couldn’t be simpler. For the full recipe including all measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  1. Combine ingredients. Fill a shaker with ice. Pour in the vodka, coffee liqueur, and heavy cream.
  2. Shake. Shake well until the outside of the cocktail shaker is very cold.
  3. Strain. Strain into an ice-filled glass, leaving space at the top.
  4. Top it off. Top off your glass with the cola. Enjoy!

How to Serve

A Colorado Bulldog cocktail is best enjoyed cold. Serve your cocktail immediately over ice for its creamy icy goodness. Open your cola just before making your drink so that the bubbles are fresh. With the fizzy cola topping the drink, no garnish is needed!

Other Kahlua Drinks

Kahlua is the star of so many amazing cocktails. With its rich coffee flavor, the boozy liqueur adds a unique and delicious flavor profile.

I know quite a few ladies that love Colorado Bulldogs. Here’s a great twist on a Bulldog & perfect with St. Patty’s Day right around the corner; I call it an Irish Bulldog, replace the cream with Baileys. Simple as that. It is fantastic!
