Looking for a sophisticated cocktail with just two ingredients? You’ve got it with the French Connection. Equal parts Amaretto and Cognac make this cocktail simple and easy to make but full of flavor. The slow-sipper is perfect for after dinner and tastes more complex than the recipe implies.

Even though the French Connection only has two ingredients, it is packed full of flavor. Slightly sweet nutty notes of the Amaretto are complemented by the warm fruity base of the Cognac. The mixed drink is named after the movie with the same name, which aired in 1971.

French Connection Ingredients

The ingredients for making a French Connection cocktail at home couldn’t be simpler. Since the recipe requires equal amounts of each ingredient, this recipe is easy to remember and make at a moment’s notice.

  • Amaretto: Amaretto is an almond-flavored liqueur from Italy that is nutty, sweet, and slightly bitter. Did you know you can make your own homemade Amaretto? It is super simple and makes a great gift, especially around the holidays! Try it in this popular Amaretto Sour recipe.
  • Cognac: Cognac is a type of French brandy made from distilled wine. There is a price variety depending on the quality of the Cognac, we recommend something middle-shelf for this recipe. You can also use it in the Sidecar cocktail!
