Sometimes it’s best to keep it simple, like in this favorite Gin and Ginger Ale cocktail, also known as a Gin Buck. Quick and easy to make, this light and bubbly cocktail provides a refreshing “kick” that will become your happy hour go-to!
A “buck” refers to a drink made with liquor, citrus juice, and ginger ale or ginger beer, and has many varieties made by simply subbing the liquor used. Its simplicity makes it super easy to order at a bar or restaurant or whip up at home. If this is a favorite gin cocktail of yours, give the Moscow Mule with Gin a try!
Gin Buck Ingredients
A cocktail recipe doesn’t get much simpler (or yummier!) than this one! Here are the ingredients needed to make one. Using good-quality ingredients makes all the difference since the cocktail is so simple. For the full recipe including all measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
- Gin: Brings a botanical flavor that goes great with ginger ale. I prefer Bombay Sapphire for all of my gin cocktails.
- Ginger ale: Adds that spicy, sweet, and slightly tangy kick to the cocktail.
- Garnish: A wedge of lime or lemon brightens up the drink with a bit of acidity. Squeeze some juice into the cocktail for an extra zing.
How To Make a Gin and Ginger Ale
Here is a brief overview of how this cocktail comes together. See the recipe card below for the full recipe.
- Fill a glass with ice and add your favorite gin.
- Top with ginger ale to fill the glass.
- Give it a gentle stir and garnish with a lemon wedge.
How to Serve
A gin and ginger ale mixed drink can be served in a small glass tumbler. Lots of ice keeps this cocktail cold and maximizes its thirst quenching and refreshing qualities. Garnishing with lemon adds a pop of color and citrus that we all love!
