The roots of the Gin Gimlet go way back. All the way back to the 1800s! There are two stories relating to the origin, one referencing a surgeon in the British navy named Admiral Sir Thomas Gimlette who made a concoction to treat or prevent scurvy with lime juice more appetizing by adding gin. The other refers to a small tool used to drill holes in wood on the ship. If you prefer vodka in your Gimlet, try this Vodka Gimlet recipe!

How to Serve

Serving a Gin Gimlet in a cocktail glass or any small tumbler will work just fine to make this delightful drink at home. If you don’t have a cocktail shaker (well worth the cabinet space!), try using a mason jar with the lid. Use a strainer to pour the cocktail into a glass while keeping the ice separate.
