The Harvey Wallbanger recipe is simply a screwdriver with a Galliano float. While there are multiple stories of where the drink originated, the most common is a bartender known as “Duke” in the 1950s creating this special cocktail for a local surfer named Tom Harvey who frequently consumed the delicious beverage.

Harvey Wallbanger Ingredients

A Harvey Wallanger has three simple ingredients. Be sure to see the recipe card at the bottom of the post for the full recipe and measurements.

  • Vodka: Its clean taste allows the other flavors in the cocktail to shine through. Use a good quality vodka that you enjoy the flavor of. Our go-to is Tito’s.
  • Orange Juice: Freshly squeezed orange juice is ideal for a Harvey Wallbanger, offering a vibrant and tangy citrus flavor. However, high-quality store-bought orange juice can also be used.
  • Galliano: A sweet herbal liqueur with a complex flavor profile that includes notes of vanilla, anise, and various herbs and spices. This is the signature ingredient that sets the Harvey Wallbanger apart from a standard Screwdriver. It also stars in the Golden Dream.
