Born in New Orleans in the 1940s at Pat O’Brien’s Bar, the Hurricane cocktail was created as a way to use up a surplus of rum. It is one of the most popular cocktails employing passion fruit and we are here for its tart and sweet unique flavor!

Hurricane Recipe

Making a Hurricane for yourself or for a crowd is super simple. To make one serving, you will need:

  • 2 ounces dark rum
  • 2 ounces white rum or light rum
  • 1 ounce orange juice
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce passion fruit syrup
  • 1 tbsp grenadine

How to Make a Hurricane Drink

The Hurricane drink is your class shake and strain cocktail, making it come together easily. Simply combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, use a mason jar with a lid. Shake well and strain into an ice-filled glass. Garnish and enjoy!
