Why is it called a Rum Runner
The rum forward cocktail is said to have been created as a way to use a surplus of rum before new inventory arrived and is named after the actual “Rum Runners” who inhabited the Florida Keys. Similar to bootleggers during the prohibition, they smuggled alcohol.
