The Screwdriver, a vodka and orange juice cocktail, first showed up on the drinking scene in the United States in the 1940s. While purely conjecture, we wonder if this originated as a “hair of the dog cocktail” served at breakfast after a wild night.

How to Make a Screwdriver Drink

This cocktail couldn’t be simpler to make! For the full recipe and our perfect ingredient measurements, see the recipe card at the bottom of the page.

  1. Fill a large tumbler with ice.
  2. Add in vodka and top with fresh orange juice.
  3. Stir to combine.

Serving a Screwdriver Cocktail

The Screwdriver is served in a tall tumbler glass or collins glass on the rocks. Enjoy right away for the best flavor. Garnish with a fresh orange slice to give it a little something extra.
