Moscow Mules are all the rage right now. While a traditional mule is made with vodka, there are many variations on the classic. This Tequila mule (also known as a Mexican Mule) uses tequila to create a cocktail that is perfectly balanced and invigorating. Fizzy and not too sweet, make sure you have enough ingredients to make a whole round!
With just a few simple ingredients, you can whip up a Tequila Mule in a matter of minutes. It’s no secret that lime and tequila complement each other very well (hello, Margarita), and this recipe is no exception.
Tequila Mule Recipe
To make a Moscow Mule with tequila, you will need two ounces of tequila (good quality recommended), an ounce of lime juice (Though freshly squeezed is the preferred way to go, you can certainly use bottled as that is sometimes easier to keep on hand), an ounce of simple syrup, and four ounces of ginger beer (or enough to fill the glass).
How to Make a Moscow Mule With Tequila
- Pour your tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup into a glass or copper mug
- Fill the glass with ice
- Top with ginger beer
- Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!
How to Serve
Mules are very commonly served in copper mugs. Though the mule certainly doesn’t have to be in a copper mug, the reason it continues to be served that way is that the copper keeps the drink nice and cold, and it certainly tastes best ice cold. It has also become the signature way to enjoy the popular drink! They are best enjoyed cold, so serve immediately with lots of ice. A lime wedge makes the perfect garnish for this.
